led gu10 bulbs will pave the way to the future

2011-12-30 5:48 pm

I have just finished checking out the power consumption of some led gu10 bulbs and comparing it to other types of light bulbs and they turned out to be just the thing that I needed to light up my warehouse. Since there is constant activity in 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and since it has no windows, it has to be lit constantly.

This can be a real problem when it comes to the electric bill. Since I consider myself to be a small business owner and really don’t earn enough to be able to throw my money around, I have to consider any means possible to reduce the overheads of the warehouse. And since one of the key points in the monthly costs is the electric bill, I needed to find a way of reducing it as much as I can. The obvious choice was the fluorescent lighting solution because these bulbs can fit in regular screw mounts, but I decided to check out all the alternatives first, before actually deciding on one.

The incandescent lights had to go and that much was clear but I also wanted to check out what these led gu10 bulbs were all about. I know a little bit about the differences between plasma and led television sets and since these led gu10 bulbs are a newer technology I decided to try them out. Only a short time ago I had the mounts and led gu10 bulbs installed and I can tell you that they have already paid themselves off.

The Underground during the Blitz

2011-12-15 12:35 pm

During the Blitz, the most important communal shelters were the London Underground stations. Although thousands used the Underground stations for shelter, in 1939 the government rejected their use as shelters as they believed it would generate a deep shelter mentality in the occupants. The government also wanted the unhindered movement of troops and commuters. The raids were so regular however, that increasing numbers of people used the Underground stations and did indeed remain there. There were many minor confrontations between Underground officials who had been instructed to let no one through the entrances when a raid began and the crowds waiting to go below.

On the second week of heavy bombing the authorities gave in to popular pressure and allowed people to use the Underground stations. Indeed, a frequent sight at 04.00 in London would be orderly queues of people waiting to be allowed onto the platforms. In mid-September about 150,000 people were sleeping in the Underground stations. During the Blitz Hotel Chocolat discount codes would have been of little help.

Euromillions

2011-12-05 4:56 pm

If you guys don’t already know, tonight is a rollover on the Euromillions lottery. It is estimated to have a jackpot of seventy two million Euros, and is attracting pan-European interest due to the lucrative nature of the jackpot. This European-wide lottery offers bigger winnings than the traditional nationwide lotteries due to the increased participation because the whole of Europe is applicable to play. It is available in many countries around Europe. That is why I’m playing tonight! The chances to win are not massive, but neither is the cost, and the return is huge. This is not one life-changing sum, this is many, i could make many of my loved ones very happy, and extraordinarily wealthy by taking a small chance of less than two pounds.

Unfortunately i will not be at home for the broadcast of the draw of tonight’s lottery numbers but even that is not a major problem anymore. The link I’ve just posted will take you to a website where you’ll be able to check all of the lottery numbers from tonight, plus a history of lottery numbers. It’s such a great site!

Kind Hearts and Coronets

Kind Hearts and Coronets is a marvelous British black comedy film which was released in 1949. Loosely based on Roy Horniman’s 1907 novel, Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal, the film is widely recognised to be the director Robert Hamer’s finest. The title of the film derives from Lord Tennyson’s 1842 poem called Lady Clara Vere de Vere in which he wrote: “Kind hearts are more than coronets, And simple faith than Norman blood”.

The protagonist of the film is Louis Mazzini, the Duke of Chalfont, who is in prison writing his memoirs before his imminent execution. Born the son of an aristocratic woman, he and his parents live a simple life as his mother was shunned by her family for marrying a commoner. His mother dies when he is in his twenties and her family refuse to allow her to be buried within the family vault. Louis decides to avenge this wrong and assume the D’Ascoyne dukedom of Chalfont. There are 11 relatives between Louis and the title and he decides to eliminate them all. I would certainly recommend borrowing this film from lovefilm.com/30daysfree.

End of the Spanish War of Succession

2011-11-03 12:08 pm

1704 found Spain in the midst of a war over succession. France, at the beginning of the year, seemed to be doing favourably well in comparison with the Austrian forces and supporters. However, in 1704, an English expedition led by the Duke of Marlborough led to Austrian victory at the Battle of Blenheim. Following this victory, ten years of war wreaked havoc and destruction in Iberia, Italy, the Low Countries, and Germany. Spain was devastated by the war. Lucky there were no gu10 led bulbs in Spain at the time!

In 1713, the Treaty of Utrecht was signed, a peace treaty between France and Europe’s great powers. Louis XIV’s grandson was permitted to become King Philip V of Spain but on strict condition that the French and Spanish thrones were to never be united. The peace treaty also demanded that Spain surrender her European empire to Austria, losing Naples, the Spanish Netherlands, Sardinia, Milan. Spain had to cede Sicily to Savoy and Minorca and Gibraltar to Britain. Most of the Italian territories were reverted to Spanish control in the years to come. The Catalans continued to resist Philip’s assumption of the throne and Barcelona was not retaken by centralised Spanish forces until late 1714 which is commemorated at the National Day of Catalonia.
